Ward holds a PhD in Transportation Science from the University of Hasselt in Belgium, is currently associate  editor of Accident Analysis and Prevention. His main fields of interest are impaired driving, speeding  and distracted driving, evaluation research, survey research, epidemiology, and implementation of road  safety programs. His latest publication focuses on the impact of COVID-19 on road safety in Canada and  the U.S.84 Vanlaar et al. 2022 Dr. Vanlaar has authored many reports and articles in the grey literature and the  peer-reviewed academic literature (h-index:15).
