Road safety and COVID-19
Conversations on the effectiveness of road safety measures
for the COVID-19 period
for the COVID-19 period
Our study aims to estimate the variation in road accidents during the pandemic period in Quebec.
The research
A comprehensive research report identifying a repository of the most effective road safety measures for the province of Quebec, in future post-pandemic scenarios (COVID-19).
Objective 1
Systematically describe the implementation of Quebec’s multifaceted nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) to contain COVID-19 and its traffic and substance use-related consequences during the years 2020 to 2021.
Objective 2
Apply three statistical approaches to identify traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities changes before and after the implementation of NPIs in the province of Quebec—considering its 17 administrative regions and its six cities with the highest population density, individually.
Objective 3
Identify effective RSMs across the world implemented during COVID-19 periods and assess their feasibility for Quebec with respect to a) results from objective 2, and b) views from the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec representatives and other Quebec road safety stakeholders.
